Emissions associated with electricity grids fluctuate over time, as grids can change from renewable-powered to fossil fuel-powered quickly. However, many electricity emissions estimates use a yearly average that does not reflect this variability. Electricity Maps is a data platform that tracks carbon emissions of electricity grids in real time to provide more accurate estimates of electricity-related emissions.
