A day-ahead schedule charges in the cheapest hours and discharges in the most expensive. Revenue depends on whether the forecast ordered those hours correctly, not how close it got to the exact price.

MAE measures price distance. Spearman rank correlation measures ordering, which is why it tracks with captured revenue where MAE does not.
